Jeannette Walls and her family are always doing the "Skedadde." Why do you think they are always on the move? Which family members do you think enjoy this lifestyle and which family memebers do not? (Respond in 3 to 5 sentences).
I think the main reason that Jeannette and her family are always on the movie is because they can't afford to have a permanent home. Although the book doesn't say this, I think they might live in an apartment and not pay their rent until they get kicked out. Based on the last time we read when Jeannette's sister said she thinks they would be living under the starts for a long time, I don't think she enjoys this lifestyle. When we read that line I felt as if she said it in a disappointed tone. Brittany S.
I think the family is running from the authorities (A.C.S) because people such as the neighbors and everybody else see that the parents are irresponsible "hillbilly's" and know that the children are in danger with them. Jeannette and her father are by far the ones that really like this whole "skedaddle" but its pretty obvious that Jeannette's older sister Lori does not like this at all! So far she gives us an idea of how she feels about this in the book.

Their problem may have began as an economic problem that has gone from bad to worst. Now not only are they not economically stable, but the children are also always being hurt by their careless judgement. Jeannette appears to be loyal to her parents and agrees most of the time on the choices they make. Her father so far enjoys traveling most and so does Jeannette, but she may be too young to realize the impact so much traveling has on her. Jeannette's mother, on the other hand, doesn't mind the traveling like some of Jeannette's other siblings do.

Well I believe Jeannette's and her family are always on the run because they never pay there bills. Also that the parents really don't take care of they're children and I believe the ACS is trying to find the family. So they can take away the children from them. I think that Jeannette's family moves a lot because they are trying to really hide from the police and the government. In my opinion, I believe that Jeannette and her father and mother likes to move while her siblings do not. But according to what we read in class, Jeannette's older sister doesn't really like the whole idea of moving.

When bill collectors and employers get wise to his schemes then the family must "skadaddle". Jeanette and her dad like the constant moving around however Lori and Mrs. Walls are tired of it.

It's obvious that they're not economically stable which is why they never stay at one place. The living conditions are never good and I'm guessing the dad has done bad things and doesn't want to get caught. I think both parents are used to it and they know it has to be done to be "safe" but the kids excluding Jeannette are tired of having to move. Jeannette seems to be too young and unaware to realize why they do the things they do and the effects of it.

I feel that jeneatte's little sister might feel sad because she doesn't like the moving around so much and she did say something along the lines of that they are probably going to be sleeping under the stars alot here on out...which probably means that she dislikes sleeping outside on cold floor.

I agree with Gabby she explained this very diffrently from others and i actually liked what she said about the dad he an con artist he knos when to skeddale but in the end he will get tired so is jeanette and will get caught in the end now that the children is invovled in this mess.

Jeannette's family is always on the move the reason being why is that her parents are not financially stable and since its a big family is not easy to have a stable home for all without the money. The parents try to get through life without doing any hard work they get dirty money and they expect to get their problems solved by running away from them. The one that most enjoys this lifestyle is jeannette because she views her parents as like the ones that know best and she is so mature that she easily adapts to everything.
